Department and Major Introduction
The Department of Korean Language at Kyung Hee University, which was the first of its kind at a Korean university, was established in the College of Foreign Languages in 1999. Its goal is to train professionals who can promote Korean language and culture to the world. The department offers a Korean Language major for domestic and international students, and a Korean Contents Studies major for international students.
The Korean Contents Studies major provides education to international students in K-contents Korean, Business Korean, and Korean Contents Interpretation and Translation Practice. These courses enhance language fluency and help students to understand and create contents across various fields, such as Korean Cultural Elements and Contents, Korean Contemporary Literature Contents, Korean Cinema and Visual Storytelling, Korean Fairy Tales and Character Contents, Understanding K-pop, and K-webtoons and Korean Comics. The curriculum also includes Korean Wave Culture Theory, Korea Through Big Data, Korean Language and Language Education Technology, Korean E-sports and Game Industry, and Korean Media and IT Industry, allowing students to analyze Korean contents and understand the characteristics of the surrounding cultural industry. Additionally, to improve students' data processing abilities needed to work as professionals in the rapidly diversifying Korean contents industry, courses on Korean Language and Natural Language Processing, Korean Contents Planning Practice, and Korean Contents Capstone Design are offered.

Graduation Thesis
Students majoring in the Korean Language and Korean Contents Studies must register for the "Graduation Thesis" course during their graduating semester and submit a thesis within the period designated by the department.

Integrated Bachelor’s and Master’s Program
The graduate school of International Korean Language and Culture Studies offers an integrated bachelor’s and master’s program. Students can complete this program within 5 years (3.5-years: Korean Contents Studies + 1.5-years: International Korean Language and Culture Studies Master's program)
Korean Language Teacher Certification
Students majoring in Korean Contents Studies at Kyung Hee University can also major in Korean Language Studies in order to acquire the Korean language teacher certification issued by the Korean government (Ministry of Culture and Tourism) upon graduation after completing the designated subjects required for certification.
